Original Press Release:

HP Announces 10K G2 Air Duct Rack Cooling Solution

Houston, November 18, 2008--HP today unveiled the new HP 10K G2 Air Duct rack cooling solution. For datacenter managers who are looking to eliminate existing hot spots and optimize air cooling, the HP 10K G2 Air Duct for racks is an ideal solution as it minimizes hot and cold air mixing together.

The 10K G2 Rack Air Duct channels the hot exhaust air from the rear of the rack directly into the top plenum (air return) to eliminate hot spots and air mixing in the datacenter. It increases cooling efficiency by returning hotter air to the computer room air handler (CRAH) units. This rack cooling solution suits racks using 5-14 kW power. The air duct is conveniently adjustable in height for different top ceiling plenum heights and has no fans or moving parts for better reliability and silent operation. It efficiently uses pressure from the computer room air conditioning (CRAC) unit to extract air from the rack. The unit can be retrofitted to existing problem racks and can work with single or multiple racks.
