Original Press Release:

New Novus FieldLogger Firmware and Software Released

CAS DataLoggers Offers Affordable Data Acquisition on 8 Channels

CHESTERLAND OH — CAS DataLoggers along with Novus are pleased to announce that the new Novus FieldLogger firmware (version 1.42) and configuration software (version 1.51) releases are now available for download! We recommended that users update both firmware and software in order to allow the new features to work properly. Old FieldLoggers can be updated too (users don’t have to buy a new one to benefit from the new versions). With the speed and flexibility to handle analog and digital signals at high resolution and sample rate, the Novus FieldLogger is a cost-effective solution for customers’ data acquisition and temperature recording needs.

Major new features include: When downloading data via FTP (FieldLogger as a client), there is an option for receiving the file directly in the CSV format. Besides that, this kind of download allows data to be deleted after the download process is finished (valid only when logging in an SD card). FieldLogger can now connect to a server in the cloud, allowing access to its data from anywhere at any time. The FieldLogger can now protect its configuration and logged data by passwords. Added a new “Modbus over TCP” protocol option, besides the existing “Modbus TCP” one. Added the capability of remote channels decimal places assignment so users don’t need to create virtual channels for dividing by “10” (or “100”, or “1000”) anymore.

New data export formats and more configuration options for the exports are available. A few bugs and limitations were corrected, including the previous inability to export an XLS file with more than 65535 rows.

Report generation is now improved! There are now 3 available report layouts: “chart + maximums and minimums”, “chart + data table” and “bar graph + averages.” Besides that, initial and final time stamps are informed on the report.

Now there are better criteria to show the “Force loggings restart” check box, at the moment of sending the configuration to the equipment. The default option is now “checked” (forcing the logging to restart).

Virtual channels have 2 more operations: processing 2 remote channels (16-bit) into a floating number (32-bit) or into an integer (also 32-bit), but swapping the “high” and “low” bytes of the original registers. This can turn the readings compatible to some devices that work with a byte order (endianness) different from the one expected by FieldLogger.

Related documentation was updated as well. All material is available for download at our site at http://www.dataloggerinc.com/downloads/novus.php.

The Novus FieldLogger RTU 8-Channel Universal Input Data Logger is a microprocessor-based data acquisition and recorder designed to handle any analog input and operates either as an RTU linked to a PC for online recording and supervision or as a stand-alone data logger with real-time clock and graph capabilities. This affordable datalogger is widely used as a Modbus RTU input device as part of a SCADA system to transmit channel data using Modbus protocol. FREE FieldChart configuration utility software is also included. The main module collects data to the PC, displays the data in both digital and graphic formats in batches or in real time, and provides trend and historical views.
