New RTU Gateway from CSE-Semaphore Integrates Multiple Device Types

In a very compact, DIN rail package, Semaphore's TBox TG2 RTU brings multiplatform Web, wireless connectivity, and advanced automation to remote assets and processes.

LAKE MARY, FL--

Semaphore TBox TG2

CSE-Semaphore, a CSE Global company, has announced a new gateway that enables multiple device types to connect to cellular and IP SCADA networks. The TBox TG2 TeleControl Gateway is the first remote gateway to combine programmable automation, alarm management, data logging and SCADA communications with a Web 2.0 user interface and cyber security suite in a single package. Greatly simplified integration results in cost savings up to 50% versus traditional solutions.

The TG2 Gateway is ideal for a broad range of monitoring and control applications in the asset management, broadcast/telecom, oil and gas, power, transportation and water/wastewater industries. It is the latest product introduction in CSE-Semaphore's new TBox LT2 RTU family, which is based on a highly scalable, future-proof processing platform.

The new product line employs an innovative, decentralized architecture that enables the complete integration of programmable automation, alarm management, data logging and IP telemetry in a single, rugged package. The simple, yet powerful platform leverage Web technologies and push messaging via e-mail, SMS text and FTP. TBox LT2 systems are easy to configure and offer dramatically reduced costs versus traditional PLC and SCADA architectures.

The TG2 Gateway incorporates an ARM9 CPU with 32 MB Flash, 64 MB SDRAM, 1 MB SRAM, and a 32 GB Micro SD card. The gateway includes multiple communications ports without analog and digital process I/O. Communications interfaces of the TG2 gateway include Ethernet, RS232, RS485, and USB ports and an integral 3G wireless option. For installations requiring I/O expansion, the TG2 readily networks with compact modules via Ethernet or RS-485. Typical gateway applications include IP forwarding and protocol conversion for drives, smart meters, video cameras and wireless sensors.

To help users take full advantage of integrated RTU systems, CSE-Semaphore also offers a unique, page editor to manage the content for its Web server. Trademarked as WebForm™ Studio 2.0, the new software unlocks the potential of Web-enabled automation and monitoring. Instead of producing device-specific apps, CSE-Semaphore has deployed Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), the agnostic technology of reference for Web 2.0. Without writing code, TBox TG2 users can build device-independent Web pages that include vectorized dynamic objects from an extensive library. The Web pages are compatible with all browsers, all operating systems, and virtually all Smart phones and tablets.

The integrated cyber security suite meets the growing need for security in all SCADA systems. The TBox Security Suite includes authentication, encryption, a firewall, HTTP Secure, SFTP, SSH, TLS/SSL, and a virtual private network. For reporting within IT networks, TBox TG2 also provides a broad implementation of the simple network management protocol (SMNP).
