June 4, 2009 - Comprised of 2 separate corresponding units, AT-RS232SRS is used for providing control to any RS-232 protocol device. Transmitter takes RS232 9-pin connector and converts it to twisted pair (Cat5/6), while accompanying receiver unit converts back from twisted pair to RS232. Extender units can reach distances up to 825 ft while maintaining signal transmission rates. Because transmitter unit can send RS232 and power to receiver, need for external power supply is eliminated.

Atlona Technologies Introduces New RS232 Extender Over Twisted Pair CAT5/6, the AT-RS232SRS

Atlona Technologies has added to their extender product line with their RS232 extender over twisted pair CAT5/6, the AT-RS232SRS. This modestly priced unit, along with cost-effective CAT5 cabling makes this one of the most affordable solutions for providing control to any RS-232 protocol device. The AT-RS232SRS consists of 2 separate corresponding units; one, the transmitter, takes a RS232 9-pin connector and converts it to twisted pair (Cat5/6). Its accompanying receiver unit converts back from twisted pair to RS232. These extender units can reach distances up to 825ft (250M) while maintaining signal transmission rates.

Because transmitter unit is capable of sending RS232 as well as power to the receiver, the receiver does not require any hassle of an external power supply. With quick and easy installation, this RS232 extender is the perfect product for digital signage applications, multi-room AV systems with centralized control, home theater and more. The Atlona Extender is compatible with Crestron, AMX, Control 4, Universal, RTI, and Inconcert control systems.

Atlona's AT-RS232SRS will be released mid June with an affordable MSRP of $79.00 and is currently available for pre-order.
