Barcoding Inc. Announces the CaptureTech RFID Wedge

New RFID tool is designed to connect RFID Readers to existing software applications with minimal set-up

Baltimore, MD, March 5, 2008 - Barcoding Inc. announces the launch of the CaptureTech(TM) RFID Wedge. This revolutionary device is designed to drastically reduce RFID development costs by allowing companies to effortlessly interface RFID technology with legacy software applications.

The CaptureTech RFID Wedge works by connecting to the RFID reader and filtering the information that is captured from RFID tags. The RFID Wedge then transmits the filtered information into the legacy software application that is running on your PC, much like a keyboard wedge barcode scanner. Combine the rich advanced data formatting features of the RFID Wedge with plug-n-play ease of use, and you have a product that makes managing even complex RFID systems a snap.

"The RFID Wedge is a valuable tool because it allows users to easily implement an RFID solution into their existing setup," says Bill Poulsen, Senior RFID Engineer at Barcoding Inc. "The simplicity behind this device takes away a lot of the complexity and costs associated with integrating RFID technology into legacy software applications."

Barcoding Inc.'s CEO Jay Steinmetz added, "Excitement has been building greatly around this product and how it will make RFID a more viable solution to a wider array of people. There has been a lot of buzz in the industry about RFID technology with little action. This new device will allow companies to begin using RFID technology without having to make substantial investments."

How the CaptureTech RFID Wedge Works
The Wedge connects to any device that supports a USB cable interface including Microsoft PC's, Macs or Linux devices. The included cable is identified as a human interface device (HID), much like a keyboard. This allows information to be entered into almost any software program including Microsoft® Excel and Word.

On the other end, an Ethernet cable connects the Wedge to an RFID reader. The Wedge is easily configured to work with the reader, and sends the appropriate commands to the unit. Once a RFID tag is scanned via an antenna connected to the reader, the Wedge filters the data into a software application running on your PC.

An additional benefit of the Wedge is its multiple trigger capabilities. RFID systems can be setup to scan for tags continuously, manually, or via an external trigger. The manual trigger is activated via a trigger connected to the Wedge, whereas in continuous mode all tags in range are automatically read. The external trigger may be activated, for example, via an optical scanner which could be very useful for conveyor belt systems or other automatic setups. All of these processes are handled without the need for any programming or middleware on the host computer saving companies significant time and money.

The RFID Wedge is the first of several new Barcoding Inc. products and applications coming out this year, including three additional Wedge solutions to be released within the next several months.
