Sirit Introduces New High Frequency RFID Reader Module

INfinity 110 supports most comprehensive set of HF protocols in industry

TORONTO, April 8 - Sirit Inc. ("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a leading provider of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, today announces the launch of its INfinity 110 ("IN110") high frequency ("HF") reader module designed for embedded RFID applications. This new offering leverages Sirit's long history of supplying HF embedded reader solutions by supporting more tag protocols than competitive products in a compact footprint. The IN110 allows for easy integration into RFID devices such as
handheld readers, mobile or stationary printers as well as point-of-sale
terminals.

The IN110 leverages the new Texas Instruments TRF7960 chip and provides application developers with a variety of tag choices by supporting numerous protocols. These include ISO 14443A and B, ISO 15693, TI Tag-it(TM), NXP EPC, NXP UID, NXP iCode(TM), NXP MIFARE®, Ultralite, and Inside PicoTag(TM).

Applications for the IN110 include security and access control, electronic payments, ticketing, e-passports, document tracking, patron management, product authentication and medical uses such as patient management and pharmaceuticals tracking.

"The small size, low power consumption, comprehensive protocol support and price point of the IN110 allows for greater adoption of RFID functionality into many types of devices creating new possibilities for embedded HF RFID applications," commented Tony Sabetti, vice president, RF Solutions for Sirit.

"Future upgrades and feature enhancements including the addition of new tag
protocols can be made via firmware updates. With this flash upgrade capability, the IN110 provides design investment protection for OEM developers and ensures forward compatibility," added Sabetti.

"The advanced design, low power and small footprint of our TRF796x chip platform supports Sirit's long heritage in developing innovative OEM reader products," said Johnsy Varghese, business development manager of HF reader products for Texas Instruments. "We also view the high frequency market as a strong area of continued growth, especially in secure transactions, personal identification and product authentication applications."

The IN110 is designed to meet FCC part 15 and ETSI EN300-330 specifications and features low power consumption with a 3.3 volt power supply requirement. This helps facilitate integration into various low power or battery operated mobile devices. A development kit for the IN110 module is available and includes a reader board, reference antenna, software drivers and sample applications. For more information, visit www.sirit.com.
