Vishay's New PSC Series of RF Spiral Inductors for Wire Bonded Assemblies

Features Low DCR to 0.26 W, High Q to 18 at 1000 MHz, and High SRF to 10.2 GHz

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced a new series of RF spiral inductors for wire bonded assemblies. Featuring low DCR, high Q, and a wide range of inductance values, the Vishay Electro-Films PSC series inductors are supported by an available RF equivalent circuit model, which allows designers to generate highly accurate computer simulations of component performance.

The PSC inductors are designed for RF circuits that require wire bondable components, including impedance tuning circuits, lumped element filters, and hybrid RF integrated circuits in communications systems and test and measurement instrumentation.

The spiral inductors feature a wide range of inductance values from 1 nH to 100 nH in a compact size measuring 0.045 in. by 0.045 in. by 0.010 in. The PSC devices combine low parasitic capacitance and DCR to 0.26 W with high SRF to 10.2 GHz and Q to 13 at 250 MHz and 18 at 1000 MHz.

The lead (Pb)-free inductors operate over a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and offer power handling to 250 mW. Custom sizes and values from 1 nH to 100 nH are available on request.

Device Specification Table:
Part Number Inductance Value (nH) DCR (Ohm) Q SRF (GHz)
250 MHz 1000 MHz 250 MHz 1000 MHz
PSC3500C 3.5 3.5 0.26 8 14 10.2
PSC1050B 10.5 10.5 0.9 10 16 5.5
PSC1250B 12.5 12.5 0.9 12 18 5.0
PSC1800B 18 18 1.25 13 15 4.2
PSC4500B 45 50 3.4 13 8 2.4

Sample and production quantities of the PSC spiral inductors are available now, with lead times of six weeks for larger orders.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers).
