Checkpoint Systems Introduces the EP Label Range

Introduction Represents Quantum Leap in Tag Detection and Deactivation Performance

HONG KONG, June 26 -- Checkpoint Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CKP), a leading manufacturer and marketer of identification, tracking, security and merchandising solutions for the retail industry and its supply chain, today introduced its line of Enhanced Performing (EP) radio frequency (RF) electronic article surveillance (EAS) labels during the company's Advanced Apparel Solutions Conference in Paris. The new, more powerful RF-EAS technology delivers a quantum leap in both detection and deactivation performance levels, helping reduce shrink further and improve the consumer experience.

"The new EP labels from Checkpoint represent a major breakthrough in EAS technology," says George Off, Checkpoint CEO. "After more than two years of R&D, we have developed a production process that delivers a substantial improvement in both flexibility and performance over current technology while reducing the size of the labels."

Checkpoint's new and improved line of EAS labels offers several advantages to retailers. Designed to be smaller and thinner than traditional EAS labels, EP labels are more easily integrated into retailers' source tagging programs, providing greater options for source tagging on a wider range of products. Therefore, the number of products that arrive in stores with security labels already in place is increased, and store labor costs are reduced. Additionally, retailers will benefit from the increased detection offered by the new EP labels, which will result in less product lost to theft. Finally, when the labels are affixed by personnel at the store level, they can be placed on smaller products and will cover less packaging area than previous labels.

Checkpoint has designed the smaller label format to be compatible with its new Meto Proline XXL RF hand labeling guns, so that store personnel can effectively accomplish multiple tasks at one time. This hand labeling gun enables retailers to print pricing and promotional information directly on the RF labels themselves, instantly and in one process. This allows store personnel to apply more labels in less time than it would take to manually apply them. It also eliminates the time spent applying multiple labels and ensures that less packaging is covered because a single label contains all necessary information.

In addition, the new production process is aligned with Checkpoint's desire to reduce the use of energy.

"This new technological development further establishes Checkpoint as an innovative leader in EAS," concluded Off. "These new labels have been designed the Checkpoint way, offering our customers a superior level of performance, while remaining compatible with their existing investment in equipment and source-tagging program. It's a break-through technology that will bring great value to the global community of RF-EAS users."

The specialty products within the EP label range are commercially available today, and productions units around the world are in the process of increasing production to full capacity.

The Advanced Apparel Solutions Conference brings together speakers and attendees from many sectors of the apparel industry to discuss the latest technologies and trends in an increasingly complex global retail environment.
