NKK Switches Releases KP02 Short-Stroke LED Switch Series
Illuminated Switch Perfect for Audio/Video Applications Now Available
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (September 12, 2007) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, today announced the availability of the new KP02 series of audio/video pushbutton switches that actuates with a shorter stroke. The KP02 series is the newest addition to the company's KP series and expands their illuminated product offerings.
"The KP02 series was developed in conjunction with leading customers because of the success of the highly acclaimed KP01 series and the need for a shorter stroke in many audio/video applications," said Frances Amoss, vice president of sales at NKK Switches. "The compact and contemporary design of this KP02 series makes them the preferred choice for cutting edge front panel designs."
KP02 series switches feature a total travel of .138" (3.5mm). Pretravel is .091" (2.3mm) and overtravel is 0.47" (1.2mm). The KP02 compact design has a height of .906" (23.0mm) from the PC board to the top of the cap. (Same height as the KP01 and the IS series programmable SmartSwitch(TM)). Actuation force is 1.6N.
KP02 switches are available in three common sizes of 17.4mm, 15mm and 12mm, allowing design flexibility. These devices feature specially designed snap in standoffs for simple and secure PC board mounting and alignment. A unique actuation guide gives positive indication of circuit transfer and a smooth and silent actuation. Design engineers are provided choices of tactile or non tactile feel in a silent actuation or tactile/audible if desired.
The KP02 pushbutton comes standard with red/green built-in LEDs, which can be combined to produce amber. RGB LEDs are also available. The square caps have a clear lens with a white diffuser and are offered in flat, sculptured or home key styles. As a result of this unique design, illumination is evenly diffused throughout.
Rated at 100mA maximum @ 12V DC, the KP02 has twin contacts with gold plating to assure high reliability and long life of 5 million operations minimum. Epoxy sealed terminals lock out flux, dust and other contaminants. Terminal spacing has standard PCB spacing of .100″ (2.54mm).
