August 14, 2006 - AVT butterfly and ball valves are available in abrasion- and corrosion-resistant material, AVT525, which is rated for continuous operation at temperatures to 356°F. Material exhibits no creep or thermal degradation and is immune to external corrosive attack, liner porosity and permeation problems, and galvanic reactions. It has low magnetic signature and is firesafe API607-certified. Valves suit applications such as steam systems, evaporator units, and exhaust gas systems.

New Corrosion Resistant Material Rated for Continuous High Temperature Operation of 180°C (356°F)

Advanced Valve Technologies is delighted to announce a new corrosion resistant material rated for continuous high temperature operation of 180°C (356°F) .

This material, designated as AVT525, offers improved corrosion resistance, strength, abrasion resistance, weight & cost savings over metallic valves.

Previous long-term temperatures have been limited from -40°C (-40°F) to +140°C (+285°F) - which was still far higher than those available from plastic materials such as thermoplastic.

However, the new limit of 180°C (356°F) has been developed to support a host of new applications such as steam systems, coke production ovens, evaporator units, exhaust gas systems etc.

The new material is available across the AVT product range immediately.(http://www.advalve.com)

The major advantages of the AVT525 valve over metal valves handling hot corrosive media include:
-Cost savings
-5 times higher corrosion resistance
-60% weight savings
-Availability

The major advantages of the AVT525 valve over PTFE/PFA lined metal valves handling hot corrosive media include:
-Immunity from external corrosive attack -Immunity from liner porosity & permeation problems -Full pressure rating at 180°C (356°F) due to virtually no creep or thermal degradation -Cost savings

The corrosion resistance available from AVT materials can be orders of magnitude greater than that even available from nickel alloys and bronze alloys, reducing total life time valve costs, increasing reliability and service life.

The 60% weight savings can have important implications in increasing available payload in vessels, whilst substantially reducing installation costs, cost of support structures and improving shipping & storage.

Other advantages include low magnetic signature, 6 week project lead times, immunity to galvanic reactions, rapid response manufacturing, multiple certifications including firesafe API607, and high abrasion resistance.

AVT's unique manufacturing technology is able to offer these advantages in products that are redefining the capabilities of non-metallic technology, making its benefits available to users demanding high performance & genuine value.
