Laboratory PEF System for R&D and Low Volume Processes



A new PEF (pulsed electric field) system that provides flexibility for experiments, batch tests, and process development involving food, algae, wastewater treatment, and other extraction processes is being introduced by Diversified Technologies, Inc. of Bedford, Massachusetts.

Diversified Technologies' Laboratory PEF System can apply a full field strength of 40 kV/cm across the fluid at conductivities up to 10 mS and can also apply 10 kV/cm into seawater. Totally integrated, this laboratory PEF system is designed for performing R&D experiments, batch tests, and process development at up to 50 liters/hr., depending upon the application.

Consisting of a high voltage pulse modulator, power supply, and treatment chamber with a pump, Diversified Technologies' Laboratory PEF System delivers up to 99% efficiency and < 1 µs rise times into a resistive load. Providing pulse widths from 1 to 20 µs and frequency up to 1 KHz, it offers internal self protection against over-voltage and over-current conditions.
