October 1, 2009 - Designed for use with magnetic-coil pickups, JH376 Pulse Amplifier is DIN-rail mount device that includes 2 channels in 0.7 in. wide housing. Responding to pulses as low as 20 mV peak-to-peak, it offers built-in adjustment allowing sensitivity reductions up to 10:1, while input filtering and hysteresis also minimize interference. Jumpers allow selection of 5 V logic or open-collector output pulses. Operating with supply from 7-24 Vdc, unit operates at temperatures from -40 to +80°C.

Low-Cost Tachometer/Turbine Flow/Logic Pulse Amplifiers

JH Technology has added two new pulse amplifiers to its product line. Originally a custom product for a customer in the oil exploration industry, the design has been modified and expanded for general use.

Model JH376 Pulse Amplifier is a compact, economical DIN-rail mount device intended for use with magnetic-coil pickups typically used in tachometers and turbine flowmeters. Two channels are included in its 0.7 inch wide housing, providing densities of almost 3 channels per inch. Highly sensitive, it responds to pulses as low as 20 millivolts peak-to-peak. A built-in adjustment allows sensitivity reductions up to 10:1 to optimize performance in noisy environments. Input filtering and hysteresis also minimize interference. Jumpers allow selection of either 5 volt logic or open-collector output pulses.

Companion product Model JH377 2-channel Logic Pulse Converter accepts contact closure or open-collector inputs and converts them to 5V logic pulses. Typical uses include flowmeters or tachometers having contact-closure outputs. Or, using internal jumpers, it can be reversed to convert 5V/TTL pulses to open-collector.

Both products operate with supply voltages from 7 to 24Vdc and at temperatures from -40 to +80°C. Neither is isolated: input, output and power commons are internally connected.
