LeCroy Enhances UWBTracer/Trainer Verification System with Spool-to-Disk Recording and UWBSpekChek(TM) Compliance Checker
March 26, 2008, WiMedia Alliance Open House, Burlingame, CA LeCroy® Corporation, a worldwide leader for serial data test announced it has released a major software upgrade to the UWBTracer/Trainer protocol verification system for WiMedia Ultra-wideband. Designed to help users improve work flow and isolate problems faster, this release adds spool-to-disk capture allowing users to monitor WiMedia traffic for extended periods and display protocol events in real-time. This release also includes UWBSpekChek, a software application that allows users to pre-test devices for WiMedia platform certification.
The UWBTracer's spooled recording mode streams trace data over any USB 2.0 host connection to allow continuous recording of WiMedia traffic. When using the spooled recording mode, UWBTracer's data and graphical displays operate in real-time. "As WiMedia technology becomes more stable, it's helpful to monitor the piconet for extended periods." said Mike Micheletti, Product Marketing Manager for LeCroy's UWB products. "With this latest upgrade, all the LeCroy graphical displays including the new Beacon Period viewer are updated continuously allowing users to spot problems as they occur. The ability to check device status at-a-glance without stopping the test makes debug more efficient."
UWBSpekChek is a pre-compliance test solution now included with LeCroy's UWBTracer/Trainer verification system. It works with the UWBTrainer exerciser platform and automatically executes the entire suite of test cases defined in the WiMedia Platform Test Specification. The UWBSpekChek software controls both the exerciser and analyzer hardware by running specific test scripts while simultaneously capturing the real response from the device under test. Captured traffic is automatically verified for compliance to the platform specification. After each test completes, the UWBSpekChek software displays a pass-fail report detailing any observed failures.
Available for download on the LeCroy web site, the UWBTracer/Trainer software version 3.1 also adds enhancements to the decryption features allowing users to descramble traffic as a post-process. Previously, the UWBTracer offered real time decryption but required the user to enter the encryption key before recording. In the event the user forgets to enter the keys before recording, it's now possible to enter the connection context and decrypt the traffic after the trace is saved. This release also features performance analysis reports that calculate performance metrics for each endpoint and decode enhancements that address the latest specifications including the WiMedia MAC spec version 1.2 and MAC-PHY Interface version 1.2.
