Progressive Cavity Pumps suit pumping of viscous liquids.May 24, 2006 -
Engineered to pump liquids with high solids content or liquids with low to high viscosity, Progressive Cavity (PC) Pumps handle heavy sludge and slurry applications. Self priming, rotary displacement units can be installed horizontally or vertically. Large PC pumps utilize hollow rotors that reduce operating noise and permit operation at higher rotational speeds than conventional models.

Progressive Cavity Pumps for Efficient Pumping of Viscous Liquids
ITT Flygt's solids/sludge handling pumps now include a comprehensive line of progressive cavity (PC) pumps. Engineered to pump liquids with high solids content or aggressive liquids with low to high viscosity, the units are based on a modular design to handle virtually any application. The self-priming, rotary displacement units are ideal for handling a wide range of viscous media such as heavy sludge and slurries.
Flygt's PC design consists of a rotor turning inside a stator forming cavities that progress uniformly from suction to discharge, carrying the liquid with them.
Highly accurate dosing is a great advantage provided by this type of pump. Flygt's largest progressive cavity pumps utilize hollow rotors, which greatly increase the life of the pump and reduce maintenance. Hollow rotors also reduce operating noise, and permit operation at higher rotational speed than conventional models. The pumps can be installed horizontally or vertically.
