Eurotech Announces Proteus COM Express and Proteus Boards Based on Intel® Atom(TM) Processor
Proteus Product Line Targets Wired and Wireless, Net-Centric Multimedia Applications
Columbia, MD, October 20, 2008 - Eurotech Inc., a leading provider of application-ready embedded computer systems, today announces the launch of the Proteus Com Express and Proteus processors boards based on the Intel® Atom(TM) processor and Intel® System Controller Hub US15W (Intel® SCH US15W). These two products in the Proteus family provide options to meet different form factor and interface requirements for OEMs.
The PROTEUS COM Express offers a choice of 1.1GHz or 1.6GHz processor, with options for 512MB or 1GB soldered down RAM and 2GB or 4GB soldered Parallel ATA Flash memory. Coupled to the extremely low heat generation of the Atom processor, PROTEUS COM Express is perfect for applications needing high-end performance in a fanless, rugged package.
The stand-alone Proteus system features a COM Express Type 1 expansion connector, supporting PCI Express, LPC, USB, SMBUS, I2C, HD Audio, SATA, LVDS and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The provision of two independent display interfaces allows deployment in applications requiring different content to be served to different users. Options for GPS, Bluetooth and ZigBee support are also available. The provision of two sites for PCI Express Mini Cards allows easy and flexible expansion for applications requiring wireless local and wide area networking including a vast array of cellular interfaces. Further non-volatile storage may be added on the board itself using MicroSD Flash.
The Proteus systems are ideally suited for both mobile and fixed data applications such as fleet management, infotainment, digital signage, mobile computing, interactive kiosks, access control, Human-Machine Interface, medical and industrial control. The Proteus boards are compatible with all major desktop operating systems, and are also available with pre-installed, ready to run, embedded operating systems including Windows XP, XP Embedded, CE 6.0 and Linux.
