Gefran's 2400 Series Indicator Offers Fast, Precise Process Monitoring

Shown at Pack Expo!

Winchester, MA, November, 2006 - - - Gefran, a leading manufacturer of sensors and control instrumentation for process automation and control, displayed its fast and precise 2400 Series panel-mounted indicator and alarm unit at the recent Packaging Exposition in Chicago. The 2400 Series provides real-time monitoring and instantaneous reaction to rapidly changing process conditions, independently providing engineering measurements and constantly comparing programmable safety limits. Gefran's indicator features a 2 millisecond sampling time, one of the fastest available. Additional features include 100,000 points of resolution, 0.1% accuracy at full scale, and three configurable alarms with a failsafe function.

Gefran's 2400 Series offers up to two main universal inputs configurable for pressure, force (load cells), temperature, displacement, linear signals; and two auxiliary channels for normalized voltage or current signals. This enables the instrument to simultaneously monitor multiple variables and define relations among them through the use of mathematical functions that extend its field of use to the measurement of differential pressure, flow rate, ratio, etc. Results can be used as process value, alarm set point, and retransmitted output. Up to four relay or logic outputs are available. An isolated analog retransmission output and RS485 serial port with Modbus RTU protocol are options.

2400 Series set up is done entirely from the front panel without any internal access. A service interface using an RJ connector is standard on all versions for configuration from a PC. Calibration and signal conditioning functions have been greatly simplified; for load cells, users simply enter the data contained on the nameplate (voltage, sensitivity, offset) and a new function automatically adapts internal amplification of the signal. The instrument can supply up to six load cells in parallel.

ABOUT GEFRAN
Founded in the 1970s, today the GEFRAN Group is a leading supplier in the field of automation and process control of plastics processing machinery for extrusion and injection molding.

GEFRAN ISI Inc., located in Winchester, Massachusetts, is the group's North American headquarters and manufacturing base. Formerly Industrial Sensors Inc. (ISI), the company joined the GEFRAN Group in 1999 bringing more than 25 years of expertise in the development and manufacturing of melt pressure transducers and instrumentation for extrusion processing. GEFRAN SPA is located in Italy and is the GEFRAN Group's headquarters and primary manufacturing facility. Manufacturing operations in both France and Brazil, and GEFRAN companies in Germany, UK, Switzerland and The Netherlands support GEFRAN SPA.

Today, GEFRAN manufactures complete control systems as well as components such as temperature and pressure indication and control instrumentation; temperature, position, melt and industrial pressure sensors; solid-state relays; humidity sensors and load cells. In addition to plastics processing, GEFRAN's instruments and integrated systems are used in a wide range of industrial automation and process control applications. With its July 2003 acquisition of SIEI, a leading manufacturer of motion control products, the GEFRAN Group now employs more than 700 people and has yearly sales of about $130 million dollars worldwide.
