Measuring Amplifier Now Available with IPM Interface

Marlboro, MA - The HBM process controllers MP85A FASTpress and MP85A-S EASYswitch are used for monitoring press-fitting processes (FASTpress) or implementing switch checks (EASYswitch). The measured values are acquired here from the connected transducer and evaluated directly in the controller. This permits a direct statement to be made about the quality of the production step.

A new software interface has now been developed for both controllers, enabling easy connection to the process data management software IPM.

IPM is a software developed by the company CSP GmbH & Co. KG and is used in areas like the automotive industry, and by most leading manufacturers in production monitoring, quality control and documentation.

The HBM process controllers can now be seamlessly integrated into an appropriate system via this new IPM interface so that the acquired production data can be directly transmitted to a quality assurance server for visualization and archiving. In addition to the overall status - the produced part is OK or NOK - and complete curves of a press-fit process or up to nine evaluation windows can be transmitted.

In addition, data can be observed in real time via a web browser. This allows the press-fit process to be monitored live without the need for anyone to be present directly at the machine. If problems occur during production, immediate reaction is possible. The person responsible for production can be automatically notified by SMS or e-mail if an error message is output. This rapid error evaluation allows product quality to be improved and, in contrast, costs related to recall actions are reduced.

The data can also be analyzed in detail in order to determine trends in the measured values, for instance. This permits early reaction to problems even before faulty parts are produced. In addition, all data are stored long-term in the IPM software database so that seamless traceability of produced parts is guaranteed.
