High-Speed Models Expand Seiko Instruments EZ-OP Thermal Print Mechanism Line

TORRANCE, Calif. - Jan. 3, 2002 - Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division announces the expansion of its popular EZ-OP thermal print mechanism family to include two new models
featuring print speeds of 220 mm/per second, up to 300 percent faster than previous models. The EZ-OP printer mechanism line features the company's exclusive EZ-OP lever activated design for fast, easy and jam-free paper loading. The new 24-volt models include 2-inch and 3-inch paper width options (Model LTPF247 and Model LTPF347, respectively). The EZ-OP configuration is also available in 3-volt and 5-volt models.

EZ-OP mechanisms allow paper loading in three very simple steps. The user simply depresses a lever to pop out the platen assembly, lays the paper in place, and snaps the assembly back in. With foolproof paper loading, these thermal print mechanisms are ideally suited for point-of-sale, kiosk and a wide range of other applications where ease of paper loading and a quiet, high-performance, cost-effective printing solution is required.

"The EZ-OP line not only offers users an extremely easy paper-loading method with its simple lever control, but now also offers print speeds for the most demanding speed requirements," said Bob Falco, director of sales and marketing for Seiko Instruments Micro Printer Division. "The option of choosing from two different paper widths provides further benefits to designers looking for fast print capabilities suitable for a variety of applications."

The new 24-volt EZ-OP mechanisms deliver print speeds of up to 220 mm/sec. with a high print resolution of 8 dots/mm for clear characters and graphics. Dimensions are 86.2 mm x 54mm x 25.8 (W x D x H) for the 2-inch model and 110.2mm x 54mm x 25.8mm for the 3-inch version at a weight of less than 150 or 175 grams, respectively. Other features include quiet operation and a typical service life of 100 million pulses or more.
