Valspar Introduces Line of Professional-Grade Stain-Blocking Primers
WHEELING, Ill., April 28 - The Valspar Corporation introduces ZAP stain-blocking primers to help battle stains and odors before applying paint. Unlike other primers, ZAP offers superior surface coverage, along with the ability to block the stains and odors common in new and existing residential and commercial buildings.
This new line introduces two options for professional painters and contractors - ZAP Interior/Exterior Latex Primer and ZAP Interior Oil-Based Primer. The latex-based primer is a low VOC, multi-purpose primer developed to block typical household stains caused by wax crayons, pencil, pen, china markers, ketchup, mustard and grease. ZAP's Interior/Exterior Latex Primer provides a mildew resistant finish, requires one coat application, dries in an hour and can seal multiple surfaces on the interior and exterior of a structure.
ZAP Interior Oil-Based Primer can block difficult-to-remove stains including those from smoke, fire and water damage, as well as tannin bleed among others and seals in odors such as nicotine, fire and smoke damage, and pet odors. Like the latex primer, ZAP Interior Oil-Based Primer, provides a mildew resistant finish, requires one-coat application and typically dries within one hour.
"Valspar developed ZAP primers with painting professionals and contractors in mind," said Art Noparstak, senior brand manager, exterior paint, Valspar. "Priming is a critical step in the painting process and ZAP is a cost-effective, stain-blocking primer that goes on thick and gives an even white finish, perfect for any paint application."
ZAP Interior/Exterior Latex Primer and ZAP Interior Oil-Based Primer are available at Lowe's nationwide in quart, gallon, and five-gallon sizes.

Zap interior oil primer on PVC pipes
I used Zap interior oil primer on PVC and CPVC pipes outside by the house and by the irrigation(outdoor) system. I was told by my licensed plumber that oil primers were going to weaken and corrode the plastic plumbing and completely destroy the plumbing in from weeks to maybe a year! Is there any truth to this. He made it sound like I had to get rid of the plumbing before it would grown brittle and break on me...possibly in weeks! I then applied after thirty hours curing of Zap oil primer, a coat of SEAL KRETE concrete latex paint with epoxy as the final coat. Thankyou for any information. Claudio
