March 24, 2009 - Spectracron 315 primer surfacer fills scratches and minor surface imperfections in substrates such as fiberglass, plastic, sanded or blast cold-rolled steel, and treated aluminum. Containing no heavy metals, 2-component, high-solids, high-build primer can be applied with Exempt Blend TFS321-50 reducer for VOC output of 2.1 lb/gal. Corrosion- and humidity-resistant compound can be sanded after 90 min and be top-coated with 2-component polyurethane enamels.

PPG Introduces New Environmentally Responsible Primer Surfacer


PITTSBURGH, Feb. __, 2009 - The TrueFinish industrial coatings business of PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) introduces Spectracron 315 primer surfacer. This two-component, high-solids and high-build primer can be applied using PPG's new Exempt Blend TFS321-50 reducer for a volatile organic compound (VOC) output of just 2.1 pounds per gallon.

Spectracron 315 primer surfacer fills scratches and minor surface imperfections in a substrate and can be sanded after about 90 minutes to produce a smooth, corrosion-inhibitive finish. It has excellent adhesion to substrates such as fiber glass, plastic, sanded or blasted cold-rolled steel and treated aluminum, and it is designed to be top-coated with two-component polyurethane enamels.

Other product features include:

o Contains no heavy metals

o Organic hazardous air pollutants (HAPS) solids measurment of 0.28 pound per gallon

o Corrosion and humidity resistance

Spectracron 315 primer surfacer is recommended for both original-equipment manufacturers and finishing job shops requiring a filler-type primer.
