December 7, 2004 - DeviceNet Digital Pressure Transmitters incorporate embedded microprocessor technology, in which low-level analog signal of pressure-sensing element is converted to digital value at rate of 20 ms. Digital pressure signal with 13-bit resolution is made available to master control system continuously via DeviceNet bus. Combined with CANbus circuitry, microprocessor monitors health of sensor electronics and reports fault conditions over bus.

Dynisco Goes Digital with DeviceNet Polymer Melt and Industrial Pressure Transmitters

Franklin, Massachusetts (November 4, 2004) – Dynisco, LLC has released their newest addition to their line of digital pressure transmitters, DeviceNet. DeviceNet transmitters provide for a sophisticated, bus-enabled communication technology and open many avenues for cost-saving new applications. Both extrusion and industrial transmitters are available.

Motivated by the need to reduce total operating costs, processors are increasingly adopting controls strategies that incorporate smart, bus-enabled devices. Cost advantages are realized in two ways: 1) reduced installation costs due to simplified wiring, and 2) reduced maintenance costs due to the availability of diagnostic information from the device. Dynisco’s new DeviceNet pressure transmitter provides for both of these cost-saving advantages.

By incorporating the latest embedded microprocessor technology, Dynisco is providing a truly innovative pressure transmitter. In this design, the low-level analog signal of the pressure-sensing element is converted to a digital value at a conversion rate of 20 milliseconds, meeting the tight requirements demanded by most melt pressure and industrial applications. The digital pressure signal with a 13-bit resolution is made available to the master control system continuously via the DeviceNet bus.

In conjunction with the CANbus circuitry, the microprocessor automatically monitors the health of the sensor electronics and reports fault conditions over the bus. The intelligence and capabilities designed into the DeviceNet structure and communication protocol provide further functionality such as automated transducer calibration, limit-setting and error analysis.

Dynisco, LLC is a worldwide leader providing pressure and temperature sensors and instruments for plastics processing and other industrial applications; polymer test systems for laboratory and in-process measurement; and gear pumps, screen changers, pelletizers, cleaning ovens and other auxiliary equipment for the plastics and process industries under the Dynisco and Beringer brand names.
