New KPSI High Accuracy SDI-12 Transducer Meets Stringent OSW Stage Monitoring Specifications

Hampton, Va. - Pressure Systems, manufacturer of precision level and pressure instrumentation for environmental water usage and water resource applications, now offers the KPSI Model 501 SDI-12 (serial data interface at 1200 baud) transducer that meets the demanding requirements of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Office of Surface Water (OSW) accuracy specifications for stage monitoring.

Because field conditions such as high velocities, wave action or channel instability can adversely affect water level measurement, the OSW mandates that data be collected with the greatest accuracy feasible. Pressure Systems' KPSI Model 501 SDI-12 offers an excellent industry-leading accuracy of +0.05% FS total error band and repeatability as well as measurement level accuracy of +0.01 ft H2O and on-board surge protection.

The transducer's small rugged package is comprised of welded 316 SS construction and a unique self-sealing cable system that protects the unit in the event of accidental cable cuts. It is 100% SDI-12 datalogger compatible, ensuring maximum flexibility in the field. The cable that connects the sensor with a recorder features built-in Kevlar members that prevent errors due to cable elongation.

The KPSI Model 501 SDI-12 is ideal for remote environmental monitoring applications that require low power with minimal current drain as found in a wide variety of ground, reservoir and surface water monitoring applications as well as for well and level monitoring environments. Its low-maintenance design includes a Super Dry Vent Filter that prevents moisture from entering the unit and requires changing only once per year.

The submersible pressure transducer is available in pressure ranges from 0 psig to 5 psig through 0 psig to 100 psig, with custom ranges available upon request. The 12 oz. unit has a supply voltage of 6 VDC to 28 VDC, with a current draw during data acquisition of 8 mA.

By participating in realistic evaluation of instrument accuracy that requires a combination of specialized laboratory testing and field trials under controlled conditions, Pressure Systems adheres to the OSW's guidelines and ensures the KPSI Model 501 SDI-12 meets all regulatory standards.

Delivery for a KPSI Model 501 SDI-12 is 2 weeks ARO.
