AGR International Inc. Introduces Ramp Pressure Tester 2â„¢ "A New Generation in Pressure Testing"

Agr International, Inc. announces the latest addition to its family of products for the glass container industry, the Ramp Pressure Tester 2â„¢ (RPT2).

The RPT2 is a precision testing device capable of safely and effectively testing the internal pressure strength of glass containers up to 900 psi. RPT2 incorporates pre-defined test profiles that permit the rapid filling and pressurization of a container according to international testing standards. RPT2 can be used in the laboratory or along manufacturing lines to verify that containers meet minimum pressure capabilities (proof testing) and/or to verify the ultimate strength of a container through a destructive test. The RPT2 offers a number of benefits to glass container manufacturers and fillers including:

> Accurate and safe method to test containers

> Fast throughput and test versatility

> Reduced operator fatigue during testing

> Real-time data acquisition and capture of test data

> Mold correlation of test data

Typically, pressure testing in container manufacturing facilities is a very labor intensive and tedious job. RPT2 is designed to reduce the amount of effort required by operators when performing pressure tests. Two key features on the RPT2 contribute significantly to the reduction of operator fatigue and improved productivity as compared to previous pressure testing methods. These include 1) the hydraulic clamping/seal mechanism that automatically clamps the pressure head to the bottle for a positive high-pressure seal, and 2) the auto-fill function that provides fast-fill and top-off of containers within 6 seconds, eliminating the need to pre-fill containers prior to testing and the associated problems with filling containers.

A number of other features are incorporated into RPT2 to facilitate accurate testing and fast throughput. Among these, quick-change bottle holders permit containers to be quickly inserted and removed from the testing station. Holders are designed for long life and feature high strength inserts that can be easily changed to accommodate different finish sizes. The compensating pressure seal is designed to work in conjunction with the clamping system and expand as pressure is increased, providing a leak-proof seal regardless of pressure. Pressure seals will accommodate a wide range of container finishes. Dual testing stations permit operators to load one station while the other is testing.

RPT2 is powered by a Windows CEâ„¢ operating system, which manages all functions of the testing system. A large, color, touch-screen display is the center for operator interaction and presentation of on-going test data. The built-in test database permits the creation and storage of test profiles that include all pertinent data for each test as well as calibration history. Test profiles can be quickly recalled when a job changes. In addition, RPT2 provides for the input of mold numbers and correlation of test data to individual molds if required. Data can also be shared with other test programs via RS232 output.

The RPT2 is another part of Agr's broad line of on-line testing/quality control devices for the glass container and filling industry. The Agr headquarters and main manufacturing facility is located in Butler, PA, USA.
