GE's SPUR +* Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Provides Outstanding Adhesion and Chemical Resistance

Medical Application First to Use New PSA Technology

WILTON, CONN. - April 3, 2006 - GE - Advanced Materials, Silicones today announced a new, and first completely formulated, pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) based on SPUR + technology. The new product is named SPUR + 2000 PSA and it is an excellent candidate for the manufacture of high-performance labels, tapes and decals.

"SPUR + PSA fills an important gap between acrylic and silicone adhesives," said Bruce Waldman, global marketing manager, SPUR + products and technology. "We expect our high tech PSAs to open up design possibilities by minimizing the need to use mechanical fasteners such as nuts and bolts," Waldman noted. "Industrial designers and mechanical engineers will be able to reduce or eliminate such fasteners in places where they are undesirable. Without mechanical fasteners, products can be more attractive, with smoother lines. And, products can be physically smaller, use fewer parts and be mechanically superior by spreading out stress over larger surfaces. SPUR + 2000 PSA is our first adhesive in a line of adhesives that will help bring this reality to applications that require exceptional chemical and thermal resistance and powerful, isocyanate-free adhesion."

Where the bond must be permanent, even in the most hostile environments, SPUR + 2000 PSA combines initial tackiness with the well-known adhesion of silane hybrid technology. SPUR + 2000 PSA provides a virtually unmatched combination of chemical and thermal resistance with weatherability and very high adhesion across a wide range of surfaces, including metals, glass, ceramics and plastics. Moreover, SPUR + PSA is free of both isocyanates and plasticizers.

The SPUR + PSA product line is being used to barcode slides in pathology labs, where the loss of a label can mean loss of a life. Other potential applications include labels and fastening tapes in aerospace, automotive, electronics, industrial and consumer products. Manufacturers can easily introduce SPUR + PSA into their existing production process and continue using familiar label stock, release liners and conversion equipment.

SPUR + PSA is available immediately for sale in North America, Latin America and Europe, in both sampling and manufacturing quantities. For more information, visit www.gesilicones.com home page. Call us at 1.800.295.2392 or + 607.786.8131 in the western hemisphere or at + 800.4321.1000 in Europe.
