J.W. Miller Magnetics Introduces Family of RoHS-Compliant Power Transformers Featuring Low Profile and UL Approval

GARDENA, Calif. - March 13, 2006 - J.W. Miller Magnetics has introduced a new family of 50/60Hz Power Transformers featuring printed circuit board mounts with UL approval. The new RoHS-compliant SS, SD, DD and UD Series of Power Transformers provide an excellent level of performance and reliability and offer a variety of power ratings and mechanical configurations. Typical applications include linear power supplies, low voltage lighting, amplifiers, industrial electronic devices, and home entertainment electronics.

All transformers in the family are manufactured with split bobbin, non-concentric wound construction, which provides superior high voltage isolation and minimizes electrostatic coupling. Designed for optimum flexibility, the new transformers are available with single input/dual output or dual input/dual output, either in series or parallel connections. The UD series' low profile design results in configurations as small as 0.68" x 1.56" x 1.88" (H x W x L), making the devices especially advantageous for high-density PC boards. U-core construction reduces magnetic radiation.

Depending on model, power ranges are from 1.1VA to 56VA with 50/60Hz frequency. Other key performance characteristics include dielectric strength from 2000 Vrms to 3750 Vrms, an insulation temperature Class B of 130° C and input voltages of 115VAC or 230VAC. All transformers in the family are recognized to UL File No. E158996.

"Our new family of Power Transformers opens up a completely new area for us," said Chuck Troy, Managing Director of J.W. Miller Magnetics. "UL approval offers customers added assurance that we are providing a product that meets stringent safety standards. And, with the wide range of power and size configurations available, customers are sure to find a Power Transformer that fits their low frequency application requirement."

The new SS, SD, DD and UD Series of Power Transformers are priced from $2.69 each in production quantities of 25 with delivery in 9 weeks.

J.W. Miller Magnetics offers a full line of high-quality surface-mount and through-hole coils, chokes, inductors and transformers for short run or high volume production requirements and maintains a large inventory of standard components for quick delivery. Engineering assistance, product samples and custom designs are always available. J.W. Miller products can be purchased through the company's global network of distributors and manufacturer's representatives (see the web site for locations).
