J.W. Miller's Expands Magnetically Shielded SMT Power Inductor Series for High-Current Applications

GARDENA, Calif. - May 30, 2003 - J.W. Miller Magnetics has expanded its popular PM7232S, PM12639S and PM12645S high-current Surface Mount Power Inductor series to include eight additional families, providing a wider variety of sizes and values for increased current flexibility and versatility. The expanded series includes the PM7232S, PM1038S, PM12639S, PM12645S, PM12651S, PM13560S, PM13656S, and PM13666S in 7mm, 10mm, 12mm and 13mm footprints.

Designed with a flat wire to create more space for high current capabilities, these devices offer an inductance range of 0.10 - 10uH. The inductors can handle current as high as 80A and offer a DC resistance as low as 0.54 milliohms. Other outstanding features include an operating frequency up to 3MHz, a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +150° C, and very high saturation current to withstand high-temperature application environments.

All models in the series are suitable for IR reflow soldering and incorporate magnetic shielding, which reduces radiation emission to minimal levels and protects circuit functionality - even when operated at high frequency, high ripple current condition. These characteristics make them ideally suited for high density mounting in such applications as DC/DC converters in high-speed notebook/desktop computers, video game machines, automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, RF/wireless, and low profile/high current power supplies. Specific uses include energy storage, DC output chokes, fly-back inductors, light dimmers, differential -mode chokes and EMI filters.

The new inductors are packaged on tape and reel in 500 to 1500 pieces for automatic insertion, and are priced from $0.975 in production quantities. Delivery is 4-6 weeks.

J.W. Miller offers a full line of high-quality surface-mount and through-hole coils, chokes, inductors and transformers for short run or high volume production requirements and maintains a large inventory of standard components for quick delivery. Engineering assistance, product samples and custom designs are always available. J.W. Miller products can be purchased through the company's global network of distributors and manufacturer's representatives (see the web site for locations). For more information: J.W. Miller, 306 E.
