ANADIGICS Unveils New Quad-Band Polar Edge Power Amplifier

New AWE6174 Delivers High Power With Exceptional Performance; Supports Use of DC-DC Converter for Even Greater Power Savings

BARCELONA, Spain and WARREN, N.J., Feb. 13 -- ANADIGICS, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANAD), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the broadband wireless and wireline communications markets, today announced its new AWE6174 quad-band Polar EDGE power amplifier (PA) module for 3G wireless handsets and equipment. ANADIGICS made the announcement this morning at the Mobile World Congress 2008 which is being held February 11-14 at the Fira de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain (ANADIGICS: Hall 2, Stand 2C19).

"Our company continues to expand its portfolio of compact, high efficiency PA products for 3G and 4G wireless communications," said Ali Khatibzadeh, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Products at ANADIGICS. "The introduction of our new AWE6174 Polar EDGE PA once again establishes a new performance benchmark in power consumption for handsets and modules in the 3G marketplace."

ANADIGICS' new Polar EDGE PA is designed to meet all requirements for GSM/GPRS and EDGE operations in dual-, tri- or quad-band handsets based on Qualcomm's WCDMA, HSPA chipsets and their latest generation transceivers. The AWE6174 Polar EDGE PA includes separate amplifiers for GSM850/900 and for DCS/PCS bands which are optimized for high performance in both GMSK and 8PSK modes in a 6 x 6mm package that is 25% smaller than current generation EDGE PA modules. An internal reference voltage and integrated power control scheme for simplified GMSK operation make production calibration faster and easier and reduce the number of external components required.

"The unique device architecture in our new AWE6174 Polar EDGE PA gives handset designers the option of using an external DC-DC converter to modulate the amplifier bias voltage and reduce current consumption at backed off output power," said Joe DeMoura, ANADIGICS EDGE Product Line Manager. "Using a 3rd party DC-DC converter in this way can reduce current consumption by half at medium output power and greatly increase battery life and talk time."

The AWE6174 incorporates ANADIGICS' proprietary InGaP-Plus(TM) technology for state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability and ruggedness. The PA is manufactured using a material set consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

Product sampling of the AWE6174 amplifier is scheduled for the end of Q1 2008.
