Mindray Introduces DP-50 Portable Ultrasound System in the U.S.

High Performance Black and White Unit Designed for Wide Array of Specialty Markets

MAHWAH, New Jersey -- Mindray Medical International Limited (NYSE: MR), a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices worldwide, today announced the introduction of the company's new DP-50 ultrasound system in the United States. The black and white portable unit provides outstanding imaging quality in a compact system and is designed for use in numerous specialty markets. With DP-50's launch, Mindray has expanded the compact solutions to its product portfolio.

"The DP-50 unit is extremely versatile, offering advanced imaging technologies to improve diagnostic confidence," said Michael Thompson, vice president of Sales and Marketing, Mindray North America. "Today's healthcare environment demands innovative technology to reach precise diagnoses quickly and thus patients can begin treatment faster. This new system augments clinical utility while enhancing patient throughput."

The DP-50 system is highly suited for a wide array of clinical applications including fetal, abdominal, pediatric, small organ, neonatal/adult cephalic, musculo-skeletal, cardiac (pediatric) and peripheral vascular exams. It provides a wealth of advanced imaging features. These include dynamic beam formation, iBeam(TM) spatial compounding, iClear(TM) speckle reduction, tissue harmonic and tissue specific imaging.

"With its unique ergonomic and lightweight form, the DP-50 is designed for use in any location," said Thompson. "As with all of our products, we strive to bring the greatest economic and clinical value to the medical professionals. The DP-50 is feature-rich while offering the image quality that customers would expect from Mindray."

Several of the features offered on the DP-50 system are found on premium systems. iZoom(TM) enables the user to view images from a longer distance by increasing the size of the clinical image display area on the screen and iTouch(TM) provides a single button image optimization. iStation(TM) offers onboard reporting while IMT gives the user auto-measurement of the carotid intimae-thickness. The system has an on-board imaging archive for more than 100,000 still images. With a 15-inch, high definition LCD tilt display, the battery life is approximately 120 minutes.

Advanced transducer technology supports optimized images for different body types and target organs. The DP-50 transducer family includes highly sensitive wideband transducers with up to four imaging frequencies in each transducer. Imaging can be done from two to ten MHz at up to a 140 degree scanning angle. The system is also upgradeable as new advances occur.

"Mindray is committed to supporting excellence in patient care and a significant return on investment for clinicians," said Thompson. "To this end, the DP-50 system's architecture is designed to accommodate future upgrades as imaging technology advances, which will provide tremendous economic value for any clinical practice."
