New Maxell iVDR-Xtreme Features a Rugged Design with High Storage Capacity and Speedy Transfer Rates
WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 -- Maxell Corporation of America, (www.maxell.com), today introduced the newest in removable media designed for high-speed, high-resolution video imaging - the iVDR-Xtreme. Previously announced at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters Show, Maxell iVDR technology promises high capacity storage in a compact, lightweight, portable design, with a tough and rugged exterior.
Maxell iVDR-Xtreme boasts a capacity of up to 250GB and when used in a professional setting, is capable of storing up to 20 hours of high-definition video, 19 hours of digital video and 110 hours of DVD-quality video.
Maxell iVDR-Xtreme is a perfect solution for recording, storing and archiving high-definition video content. Yielding superior speed and transfer rates of up to 3Gbps*, Maxell iVDR-Xtreme is based on a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) model with a 26-pin interface, making it an excellent option when working with high-resolution imaging.
The unique construction of the Maxell iVDR-Xtreme allows for its use in extremely rugged conditions. Other external disk-based data storage solutions typically cannot withstand any significant drop, but Maxell's patented shock- absorbent technology can resist shock from a drop of 4.6 feet (1.4 meters) onto a hard surface like tile flooring. A hot-swappable feature also allows users to remove or insert media at any time without having to perform any kind of reboot or re-start.

With the capability of up to 10,000 insertions and removal cycles, Maxell iVDR-Xtreme is built for continued and repeated use. Compatible with all PC and Mac computers, Maxell iVDR-Xtreme is preformatted with a FAT 32 file system. The Maxell iVDR-Xtreme is bus-powered by either a High-Speed USB 2.0 or 9-pin FireWire 800 port. Should you need extra power, the iVDR-X ships with a host of interface cables and universal AC adapter. Either can supply ample current.
The Maxell iVDR-Xtreme and adapter will be available beginning in Q1 2009 for a SRP of $650.00.
