Sintered products produced with GUR®X 192 VHMW Macropowder offer porosity and strength for use in liquid and gas filtration applications. Polyethylene resin features molecular weight of 600,000 g/mol, pore size of 205 µm as determined by DIN 66133, and porosity of 47% as determined by DIN 66133. GUR®X 192 Macropowder it suited for variety of applications including wastewater treatment, chemical filtration, drug manufacturing, irrigation, and medical fluid filtration.

New GUR® X 192 Macropowder from Ticona Expands Porous Plastic Design Possibilities for Filtration
Florence, Ky., Kelsterbach, Germany, Shanghai, PR China, - Ticona today announced the development of GUR®X 192 Macropowder, a new porous plastic powder. Sintered products produced with this new material have excellent porosity and good strength for use in a variety of filtration applications for liquids and gases that require higher flow rates, lower pressure drops and increased part strength.
New GUR X 192 Macropowder will be showcased at K 2010, Ticona Booth, Hall 06/A07 and Hall 06/B07, from Wednesday to Nov. 3 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
"Our customers asked for a larger design space that will allow them to develop more innovative porous filtration products," said Ramesh Srinivasan, global segment manager for GUR porous, Ticona. "After intensive research and development, Ticona scientists created the new GUR X 192 VHMW (very-high molecular weight) polyethylene polymer that stretches the envelope of porous part properties to encompass applications across a wide spectrum of industries."

GUR X 192 Macropowder offers the following material properties:
o Molecular Weight - 600,000 grams per moles(g/mol) as determined by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) 1628/Margolies
o Particle Size Distribution - 451 d50micrometer (µm) as determined by Helos Laser Scattering
o Bulk Density - 0.35 grams per milliliter (g/ml)as determined by DIN European Standard (EN ISO) 60
o Pore Size - 205 µm as determined by DIN 66133
o Porosity - 47 percent as determined by DIN 66133
At the heart of this new polyethylene resin is a patent pending break through technology developed by Ticona scientists. It enables the material to be shaped and sintered - 180 to 220 degrees Celsius (356 to 428 degrees Fahrenheit) -into porous objects with improved strength and porosity.
