New DuPont(TM) Entira(TM) Strong Enhances Performance of Oriented Polypropylene and Polyester

WILMINGTON, Del., May 17 / / -- DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers today announced that it is introducing DuPont(TM) Entira(TM) Strong, a polymeric additive that helps improve the performance and processibility of tapes, filaments and films made out of oriented polypropylene and polyester. The addition of Entira(TM) Strong, even at loading levels as low as 2 to 3 percent by weight, delivers a multitude of performance-enhancing features ranging from increased hot drawability and tenacity to reduced dusting and splitting.

"We are very pleased to be introducing Entira(TM) Strong as the second product in an innovative new family of modifiers that DuPont launched earlier this month," said Todd Becker, global market manager, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. "Not only will Entira(TM) Strong help processors enhance product performance to better meet end-user needs, it will give them the potential to improve their bottom line."

Studies have shown that dry blending 2 to 3 percent by weight of Entira(TM) Strong with a base resin enables the stretch ratio to be increased 20 to 30 percent above standard levels, with no reduction in elongation at break. The higher molecular orientation will lead to a tenacity increase and enable manufacturers of geotextiles, flexible bulk containers and multifilaments to consider down-gauging as a means to achieving cost savings without compromising product performance.

Entira(TM) Strong also reduces dusting, which minimizes blocking and wear on equipment, and helps create a better work environment. And, by reducing splitting, Entira(TM) Strong helps increase productivity because there are fewer breaks during weaving and strapping operations.

Additional advantages of using Entira(TM) Strong include: improved softness and smoothness for geotextiles and flexible bulk containers, which makes sewing easier and reduces wear from abrasion; and increased filler acceptance, which helps reduce costs by allowing the use of higher levels of low-cost fillers.
