Okami(TM) PoL DC/DC Converter Range Expands with the Introduction of 3A Miniature SIP
o Miniature SIP package suited to space-constrained applications
o Outstanding thermal derating and 93% conversion efficiency
o 4.5 V to 14V input voltage range
o Drives up to 200µF ceramic capacitive loads
Murata Power Solutions has added a miniature 3A, SIP model to its Okami(TM) family of non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC/DC converters. The OKR-T/3-W12-C provides an ideal solution for designs that require a wide input voltage range, high efficiency PoL solution where board space is limited. Typical applications include datacom routers and servers, plus industrial equipment such as LED signage, POS systems and power amplifiers where the new DC/DC converters are able to provide a cost-efficient way to meet the onboard power needs of ASICs, FPGAs, microprocessors and communications ICs.
The new addition to the Okami range has an input voltage range of 4.5VDC to 14VDC (12VDC nominal), and a programmable output voltage from 0.591VDC to 6.0VDC. Despite overall dimensions of just 0.41in. (10.4mm) x 0.65in. (16.5mm) x 0.40in. (10.2mm), the OKR-T/3-W12-C achieves outstanding thermal derating performance. Power conversion efficiency of 93% supports the growing demand for energy efficient product designs.
The modules are capable of driving ceramic capacitive loads up to 200µF.
Based on 600kHz synchronous buck topology, the OKR-T/3-W12-C DC/DC converter features include programmable output voltage and on/off control, under-voltage lockout, over-current and over-temperature protection. In order to provide flexibility and additional choices to designers, Murata Power Solutions will soon introduce 6A and 10A versions of the miniature SIP packaged OKR series in the same form factor and pinout.
The new converters are designed to meet all standard UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 safety and FCC EMI/RFI emissions and RoHS-6 hazardous substance compliance.
In high volume quantities, the OKR-T/3 model is in the low $3 range. Lead time for delivery is from 6 to 8 weeks.
