Larson Electronics Releases Pneumatic Light Mast with Eighteen Feet of Extension

Larson Electronics has announced today the release of a pneumatically powered light mast capable of elevating lighting and similar devices up to eighteen feet in height. Designed for ease of deployment and high stability, the PLM-18 Pneumatic Light Mast allows operators to quickly and safely deploy lighting and electrical devices without the need for cumbersome or tiring hand cranks and winches and provides high stability even in windy conditions.

The PLM-18 telescoping pneumatic light mast from Larson Electronics is powered by compressed air and allows operators to quickly and safely deploy lighting and other electrical equipment to elevations of 18 feet without the need for hand winches or cranks. This tower is powered by an included 1/3 horsepower compressor and all the wiring is mounted internally within a 6 wire harness with 12 inches of wiring extended from both ends of the tower for easy connection of power sources and devices. A release valve located at the bottom of the tower allows operators to easily collapse the unit for transport. The tower is comprised of three sections and can be extended to heights ranging from 8 feet to 18 feet, allowing operators to elevate the equipment according to the best operation of the attached devices.  The bottom of this tower features a 12 inch square, ½ inch thick mounting base-plate which has been drilled to accept four ¾ inch mounting bolts for secure installation onto truck beds or mounting platforms. The upper end of this light tower features a 24 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick locking mounting plate to allow easy connection or removal of lighting equipment and similar devices. The tower itself is constructed of heat treated aluminum tubing, providing high strength and durability as well as lighter weight than steel towers. The tower and hardware weighs 300 lbs and can easily support up to 150 lbs of equipment safely. This is a heavy duty tower assembly and ideal for commercial and industrial applications where fast setup and secure placement is important. Larson Electronics also offers a variety of options with this unit including outfitting the tower with metal halide or LED light bars, custom section lengths, and larger mounting plates.

“Now we have three families of light masts, including our crank up masts, electric winch masts, and our new pneumatic mast systems,” said Rob Bresnahan with LarsonElectronics.com. “The newer family of pneumatic masts, powered by a small included compressor, offer original equipment manufacturers and others the ability to design solutions with smaller foot print.  The pneumatic masts, like the PML-18, collapse to a lower height and our considerably less weight, since they are made from aluminum, not steel. Finally, some applications require mast deployment and retraction often and having a compressor based system makes that quick and easy.”

Larson Electronics has manufactured a wide variety of high quality industrial grade lighting and related accessories for over 40 years and services federal and local agencies as well as the military, utilities, and emergency services sectors.  Larson Electronics’ full inventory can be viewed by visiting them on the web at Larsonelectronics.com.
