July 2, 2014 - To meet PICMG 2.11 Power Interface high power requirements on 3.3 and 5 V rails, slimline 6U 8HP 160 mm unit features 2 independent converters operating in parallel. This lets PSU simultaneously provide 80 A at 5 V and 70 A at 3.3 V. While +12 V output is rated at 7 A, -12 V output is rated at 1.5 A. Input voltage is autoranging 90–264 Vac, 47–63 Hz, and efficiency is >80% at full load. This quad output 650 W unit also features active PFC to achieve full load power factor of 0.95 at 220 Vac.

Press release date: June 24, 2014

Verotec has extended its range of pluggable power supplies optimised for use in CompactPCI systems with the introduction of a quad output 650W unit. To meet the PICMG 2.11 Power Interface high power requirements on the 3.3 and 5V rails, the compact slimline 6U 8HP 160mm unit features two independent converters operating in parallel enabling the PSU simultaneously to provide 80A at 5V and 70A at 3.3V. The +12V output is rated at 7A, the -12V one at 1.5A. Input voltage is an autoranging 90-264VAC, 47 to 63Hz.

The PSU features active power factor correction to achieve a full load power factor of 0.95 at 220VAC. Efficiency is greater than 80% at full load. It is hot swappable, has high temperature shutdown with auto recovery, overload, over-voltage and short circuit protection and operate at full load up to 55C without derating, subject to forced air cooling at 400 linear feet/minute. Line regulation is 0.5%, 3.3V and 5V load regulation 1%, 3.3V and 5V ripple is 60mV p-p.

The conductively finished front panel is fitted with an EMI gasket and guide pin, protective ground, injector/extractor handles compatible with the long first-make/last-break pins specified for cPCI systems and keying to conform to IEEE 1101.10/11.

The PSUs have been tested with 10G shock loading and 1.9G RMS 10Hz to 500Hz vibration. They conform to the EMC requirements defined in EN61000-3 and -4.

The unit is the first of several new PSUs to be launched: new 3U 250W and 450W 12, 24 and 48V single output units will be announced soon.
