Airguard Introduces New Merv 8, 30-35% Pleated Filter

LOUISVILLE, KY - Airguard has announced the development of a new pleated panel filter, "Type DP8", with a MERV 8 rating per ASHRAE Standard 52.2.

The new filter has a proprietary media exclusive to Airguard. It is made from 100% synthetic fibers enhanced with an electrostatic charge to increase efficiency on smaller particles, one micron and below. The new media also provides 30-35% dust spot efficiency per ASHRAE Standard 52.1.

The media is pleated with a galvanized steel expanded metal backing to form consistently shaped pleats and prevent rust. The pleat pack is contained in a two piece die cut frame made of high wet strength beverage board for greater tear strength in high moisture conditions. The two piece frame forms a double wall around the entire perimeter of the filter for extra strength.

The pleat tips are bonded to diagonal support members on both sides of the filter at all points of contact to maintain pleat spacing as the dust load builds and in turbulent conditions.

A MERV 8 efficiency rating means the filter achieves a minimum of 70 - 84.9% efficiency on 3 - 10 micron particles as determined by the new ASHRAE 52.2 Standard.
