Tinius Olsen Introduces Plastics Impact Tester with Advanced Controller and High Resolution Display

Model IT 504 enables impact strength testing using Charpy
or Izod configurations, without changing the pendulum.

Tinius Olsen, the Horsham, PA, USA-based manufacturer of materials testing equipment, has developed a new plastics impact tester distinguished by a highly accurate controller and a high-resolution display. The IT 504 has Izod and Charpy impact fixtures that can be easily added and removed via a T-slotted block.

Standard features of the plastics impact tester include: an aerodynamic compound pendulum; selectable energy units; selectable strength calculations; break type input options of Complete, Hinge, Partial, Non-break, and Necking; automatic or manual Toss correction; auto calibration for bearing windage and friction; automatic or manual update of the specimen number; and a real time display of energy for verifying display accuracy against traceable measurements of pendulum height and weight. Options available for the IT 504 are hot and cold chambers, an instrumentation package, and separate 1J and 0.5J hammers.

Tinius Olsen has evolved into a global provider of materials testing solutions, to include a full range of testing equipment, software, and third-party-accredited calibration services.
