Brevini USA Introduces S Series High Torque Planetary Gear Units
(Vernon Hills, IL – June 4, 2004) Brevini USA, the USA division of Brevini Riduttori Italy, has introduced a new series of high torque planetary gear units for a wide range of industrial fixed and mobile applications. The S Series has been specifically designed for applications requiring high torque with minimum dimensions.
These high performance planetary gear units increase torque by 25% with a reduction of 40-60% in space and weight compared to the current PDL series. S Series planetary gear units are available in eight harmonically developed sizes with torque ratings from 25,000 to 275,000 foot-lbs. Transmission ratios range from 3:1 up to 3,150:1.
"The S Series is based on exciting new technology," said Salvatore Spada, Brevini USA President and COO. "The S Series units incorporate four planetary gears instead of the usual three. The gears are perfectly balanced and operate with perfect load sharing. The four gears create much higher torque for the space that the gearbox occupies."
Improved gear bearing life is the key to S Series performance and durability. This improvement is the direct result of new bearing designs and production techniques.
Brevini Riduttori invested millions in developing a new manufacturing facility dedicated to the S Series in Reggio Emilia, Italy. New CNC machining centers and gear cutting machinery produce ground gears with more precise teeth profiles for longer, more accurate operation. Also, the gear design allows for more cost-effective production techniques, so Brevini can manufacture higher quality gears at a lower cost. The result is that S Series units last up to 30 % longer than many competitive units and sell for less.
The S Series also features a rugged sealing arrangement, larger oil ports and a more robust adaptation system for large electric motors. A large degree of interchangeability exits with the previous models.
The S Series units are adaptable to a wide range of applications, such as mixers, extruders, winches, cranes, conveyors, and apron feeders, among others. They are ideal solutions for industries that include material handling, mining, food production, construction, off shore, steel manufacturing, water purification, and more.
"The new S Series offers a range of benefits," said Spada. "Our customers get a significant increase in torque, plus space and cost savings. The S Series is the latest way in which we are the Planetary Partner for our customers."

Planetary speed reducers
Dear Sir / Madam
My Chinese Company manufactures and supplies machinery to International clients for use in Cane Sugar Factories.
One such machine is called a Pressure Feeder. It has two grooved rollers which forcefully feeds cane fiber into the three mill rollers.
To drive the Pressure Feeder rollers I require two planetary speed reducers with the about the following specifications:
Power rating – 200 kW.
Service factor – Not less than 2
Output speed range – 0 to 6 RPM
Input speed range – 0 to (about) 400 RPM (to suit a standard hydraulic motor. The input speed can be higher if the overall drive cost is lower)
The drive torque remains coinstant over the speed range.
Mounting – Shaft mount , shrink coupling, torque arm.
Ambiant temperature – 40 degrees C
Can your Company supply Planetary Speed Reducers to match the above specifications?
If so can you supply full details via email.
