Pipe Sealant forms flexible bonds.

Press Release Summary:

Flex Bond(TM) two-component adhesive bonds flexible piping made of PVC, ABS, and other plastics. Once methacrylate polymer has been applied to 1 of 2 surfaces to be joined, activator can be sprayed on top of polymer or onto other surface. Working time is 3-4 min following activation. Flex Bond requires no mixing, attains functional cure in 1 hr at room temperature, and withstands temperatures to 200°F. It fills gaps up to 25 mils and has tensile elongation of 16%.

New Pipe Sealant Forms Extremely Flexible Bonds

DANVERS, MA - Flex Bond(TM) is a new pipe sealant from Devcon that bonds flexible piping made of PVC, ABS, and many other plastics. It forms extremely flexible bonds that are ideal for joining hoses to rigid PVC couplings. Flex Bond requires no mixing, attains functional cure in 1 hour at room temperature, and withstands service temperatures to 200°F.

Flex Bond is a two-component adhesive. Once the methacrylate polymer has been applied to one of the two surfaces to be joined, the activator can be sprayed on top of the polymer or onto the other surface. The curing cycle begins when the polymer comes in contact with the activator. Working time is 3-4
minutes following activation.

Flex Bond is also effective for sealing steel pipe joints and for laminating plastics to core materials. It has a tensile elongation of 16% and fills gaps as wide as 25 mils. When bonded surfaces of the same material are separated by a gap of 10 mils, adhesive tensile shear (in pounds per square inch, based on ASTM D 1002) is typically 878 on ABS, 988 on FRP, 838 on PVC, and 1482 on cold-rolled steel.
