Leviton Enhanced Pin and Sleeve Devices Offer Greater Durability and Versatility
Little Neck, NY February 14, 2003 --The Industrial Products Division of Leviton Manufacturing has enhanced its line of IEC 309-1 and 309-2 compliant Pin and Sleeve devices to offer increased reliability, durability, versatility and ease of use. The product line includes North American IP67 Watertight devices in plug, connector, inlet, receptacle, and mechanically interlocked configurations; International-rated devices in plug, connector, inlet, and receptacle configurations; and accessories such as liquid-tight adapters, back boxes, and protective closure caps. North American devices are available in 20, 30, 60, and 100 amp ratings. Mechanical Interlocks are also available fused and non-fused. International-rated devices are available in an IP44 Splashproof version rated for 16, 32, & 63 amps and an IP67 Watertight version rated for 125 amp.
Leading the enhancements to Leviton's Pin and Sleeve offering is the addition of liquid-tight adapters complete with screws and gasket. With this adapter, flexible liquid-tight conduit can be attached to the end of North American plugs and connectors. North American watertight pin and sleeve devices together with liquid-tight conduit provide superior protection from water and moisture, making them ideal for data centers and other critical applications. Improved gaskets on the spring-loaded covers also provide greater protection against contaminants. All 20 and 30 amp devices now feature terminal screws aligned on a single plane for easier access during installation. 100 amp devices feature stainless steel terminal screws and terminals for top performance.
Designed for critical applications, the products offer a highly durable housing made of Valox® 357 to withstand the extremely punishing conditions characteristic of most industrial environments. The housing offers excellent flame and chemical resistance as well as UV stability. All Leviton North American Pin and Sleeve products feature a dual cord clamp design consisting of an external cord clamp and a removable internal cord clamp, which adds an extra measure of strain relief to cord terminations.
Leviton's Pin and Sleeve devices are suited to a wide variety of applications in agriculture, chemical processing, food processing, manufacturing, marine, and other environments where electrical connections need to withstand temperature extremes, vibration, impact, pressure, dirt, dust, moisture, corrosive elements and wash downs.
