June 22, 2011 - Requiring only 2 wires, normally open prolonged pulse PBA switches can directly replace electromechanical switches in demanding environments such as medical, testing, and mining equipment; food preparation; and remote controls. PBA C function mimics behavior of standard switch; length of time for which actuator is pressed correlates diectly to length of output response (up to 20 sec). Sealed and washable, switches consume no power and use no external power source, ground, or power wires.

Apem Offers Normally Open Prolonged Pulse PBA Piezo Switches

Haverhill, MA - APEM Components, Inc., a leading manufacturer of quality switches and joysticks, is pleased to announce the availability of its normally open (NO) prolonged pulse PBA piezoelectric (piezo) switches. The switches are ideal for demanding environments, including medical, testing and mining equipment, food preparation, vending machines and remote controls.

The PBA piezo switch requires only 2 wires and can directly replace electromechanical switches with all the advantages of the APEM piezo technology, providing longer life in a sealed, washable, contemporary design. It is available in 7 standard colors.

Unlike most piezo switches with pulse-only outputs, APEM's PBA C function mimics the behavior of a standard switch, so the longer the actuator is pressed, the longer the output response - up to 20 seconds.

The PBA piezo switch consumes no power, and uses no external power source, ground or power wires. The lack of electronic interface results in ease of use and expanded piezo technology application possibilities. In addition, the switch's prolonged pulse reduces false activations or progressive gauge option.
