November 8, 2002 - EFD Series InGaAs PIN photodiode, with dark current range of 0.1 to 0.3 nA (when VR = 5 V), has sensitive areas from 0.025 to 3 mm when detecting incoming light. It responds to near IR to run longer fiber optic cables. Suitable for communications to medical sensors, responsivity is rated at 0.9 A/W, and typical bandwidth is 1.5 GHz. EFD Series comes in TO-46 metal can packaging, but can be packaged in plastic ST-type or metallic ST-type receptacles.

Elekon Announces Ultra High Speed Photodiode with Low Dark Current

Torrance, CA. October 21, 2002....Elekon Industries introduces an ultra high speed, low dark current, InGaAs PIN photodiode. The low dark current allows the EFD Series to have a higher sensitivity when detecting incoming light and it responds to near IR so longer fiber optic cables can be run. The EFD Series comes in the standard TO-46 metal can package, but can be packaged in the plastic ST-type or metallic ST-type receptacle. Applications range from high-speed fiber optics for communications to medical sensors.

The EFD Series features dark current with a typical range from 0.1 nA to 0.3 nA (when VR = 5 V), sensitive areas range from 0.025 mm to 3 mm, a responsivity of 0.9 A/W (when VR = 5 V, @ 1300 nm), and a typical bandwidth of 1.5 GHz (when VR = 5 V).

All versions of the EFD series are available now and pricing starts at $?.?? (US) each in quantities of 1000. All of Elekon's products are available through its network of distributors, value-added resellers and system integrators in Asia, the United States and Europe.
