May 12, 2010 - Extending low measurement capability to NIR range, covering from 800-1,800 nm, PD10-IR-pJ energy sensor is able to measure very low energies, either single shot or repetitive, up to 10 kHz. Device uses 5 mm aperture germanium photodiode to measure pulse energies in 200 pJ to 20 nJ range, with lowest possible energy measurement as small as 30pJ. They are designed for commercial and military applications, such as telecommunications and remote sensing.

Ophir-Spiricon Announces New, Very Low Energy Laser Measurement Sensors

Logan, UT - Ophir-Spiricon, the global leader in precision laser measurement, today announced the PD10-IR-pJ Photodiode Energy Sensors that measure very low energy, down to 30pJ. Part of the PD10 family of high sensitivity silicon laser sensors, the new devices extend the low measurement capability to the NIR range, covering from 800 to 1800nm. The PD10-IR-pJ energy sensors are designed for very low energy commercial and military applications, such as telecommunications and remote sensing.

The PD10-IR-pJ is able to measure very low energies, either single shot or repetitive, up to 10kHz. The device uses a 5mm aperture germanium photodiode to measure pulse energies in the 200pJ to 20nJ range, with the lowest possible energy measurement as small as 30pJ.

"Measuring at the picojoule level has been difficult until now," stated Ephraim Greenfield, VP Engineering, Laser Measurement Group, Ophir-Spiricon.

"The PD10-IR-pJ brings infrared laser measurement down to significantly smaller, more sensitive levels, jumping from 200nJ down to 30pJ, a 10,000 time improvement."

Pricing and Availability
The new PD10-IR-pJ Photodiode Energy Sensors are available now. OEM pricing is available on request.
