Terminix Launches EcoControl(SM) Program for Commercial Clients

Industry leader answers market demand with follow-up to Terminix SafeShield(TM) introduction.

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 22 -- Terminix(R) announced today it has officially launched its eco-friendly service for commercial customers, a pest management system designed to nurture a more sustainable environment. The Terminix(R) Commercial EcoControl(SM), program introduces solutions to protect businesses from pests that allow these partners to be more environmentally responsible.

Company officials note traditional pest control services in the commercial segment have long emphasized treatments using pesticides as the primary method for dealing with infestations, and not the elimination of conducive conditions. In contrast, pest prevention is a much more environmentally sustainable approach than simply reacting to them. Terminix Commercial EcoControl takes its Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to another level by focusing on pests long before they become a problem.

Lonnie Anderson, manager of quality assurance for Terminix, said the system is a much more thoughtful approach to pest control, thus creating the need for even more precise communications between the company and its customers. "Before, routine application was 'king'," said Anderson. "But with EcoControl, the initial question phase drives our approach - what pest is present? Where is the source of the infestation? What contributing conditions are present?"

In addition to focusing on inspection, monitoring and correction of pest-conducive situations, Terminix EcoControl also utilizes natural treatment substances like plant essential oils and alternate methods like trapping. Other low-impact products that are required under the EcoControl system include baits and Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs).

The program meets stringent qualifications mandated by ecological and environmental associations, including NPMA QualityPro Green, and is compliant with the IPM requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED(R) (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system.

Commercial clients with existing programs for environmental sustainability will find EcoControl valuable because it was designed to complement and enhance these approaches. "Combined with other environmentally responsible initiatives, Terminix EcoControl may very well help our customers become eligible for major city, state and federal tax deductions," said Bill Sublette, vice president of sales for Terminix. "So not only is the program lowering our partners' impact on the environment, it can also directly affect their bottom line for the better."

Sublette added that Terminix EcoControl is available now in select commercial branches and expects to complete deployment to the remaining dedicated commercial branches in Q3.

"We couldn't be more excited about this launch," said Tom Brackett, president and chief operating officer of Terminix. "EcoControl meets a growing market demand and is the right thing to do for our commercial clients. They asked for it, and we delivered once again."
