August 10, 2005 - Designer Series 4000 steel raceway incorporates crossover feature that enables receptacles and data activations to be positioned in same channel or on downward facing surface. Featuring obstacle avoidance fittings and in-base integral channel divider, unit maintains integrity of data channel separation when cables cross over power channel. Adjust-to-fit raceway couplings allow up to 4 in. of lateral movement so base can be stretched or compressed to fit given space.

Wiremold/Legrand Introduces Innovative New Raceway

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (August 4, 2005) - Wiremold/Legrand will introduce the next generation of perimeter raceway at NECA 2005 in New Orleans, September 18-20. Designer Series 4000 steel raceway provides higher cable capacity and incorporates numerous installation advantages. An optional downward facing configuration for receptacles and data jacks improves connection reliability and creates more space inside the raceway to meet cable bend radius requirements.

In conventional dual-channel raceways, receptacles are directly in front of the electrical channel while data jacks are positioned in front of the data channel. This configuration limits the amount of space available for data cables and exposes front-facing communications activations to potential damage. Designer Series 4000 raceway has a unique "crossover" feature that enables receptacles and data activations to be positioned in the same channel - or on the downward facing surface. These units maintain the integrity of data channel separation when the cables cross over the power channel.

Designer Series 4000 raceway is easier to install than competitive products. The modular design minimizes the number of cuts required during installation. The scored base makes cutting easy when needed. Unique adjust-to-fit raceway couplings allow up to 4" of lateral movement so the base can be "stretched" or "compressed" to fit a given space without additional cutting. The channel divider is integral to the base, saving additional time. And obstacle avoidance fittings allow the raceway to bypass existing conduit or raceway on the wall.

Designer Series 4000 raceway is available prewired. Prewired raceway is manufactured to job specifications with all circuits and devices exactly as shown on the drawings. Units can be packaged and labeled by a specific room, area, or floor with complete documentation and blueprints. Delivery to the job site can be coordinated for maximum efficiency. On the job, prewired raceway installs in as little as one-third the time required for field-assembled perimeter raceways.
