Available in 40–250 A models with 3- for 4-pole mains MCCB protection, PowerPlex™ P-Series eliminates need to install barrier glands or conduit seals. Units provide flameproof protection for lighting, heat trace, and power circuit distribution in potentially explosive atmospheres, including petrochemical plants and refineries. Fiberglass reinforced polyester housings and stainless steel hardware also qualify panelboards for wet, corrosive areas such as marinas or water treatment centers.

Features Increased Safety design for Worldwide Deployment
ROSEMONT, IL -- Appleton has expanded its acclaimed PowerPlex™ panelboard line with the new P-Series that eliminates the need to install barrier glands or conduit seals, resulting in the fastest, easiest and most cost-effective installation. Engineered to meet the growing demand for safe and reliable high-power performance for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres, the new panelboards are ATEX/IECEx certified to demanding Zone 1 - 2 and 21 - 22 requirements, qualifying them for deployment in markets across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
"Our next generation of panelboards simplify flameproof protection for lighting, heat trace and power circuit distribution," said Rehanul Hasan, Marketing Manager for Appleton. "Every feature has been engineered to make it easier to install and customize to suit the customer's installation needs, including the flexibility of a modular design for unlimited circuit configurations with horizontal and vertical coupling options."
New P Series PowerPlex panelboards offer superior indoor and outdoor protection and control of electrical circuits in hazardous industrial locations worldwide including petrochemical plants and refineries. Fiberglass reinforced polyester housings and stainless steel hardware also qualifies the panelboards for wet, corrosive areas such as marinas or water treatment centers.
Key to the success of the new panelboards is their incorporation of multiple, specially designed component-level enclosures that offer flameproof protection while housing off-the-shelf circuit breakers. These flameproof enclosures allow breakers to be replaced in the field, unlike expensive epoxy-encapsulated breakers. This inventive method of component-level protection, when combined with a new busbar design and modular configuration, delivers unprecedented installation flexibility and maintenance simplicity. The 50 kA busbar system enables more robust, reliable and efficient electrical connections in a compact space, joining mains power through a hard-copper connection, while factory installed line and load connections allow the user to increase breaker ampacity in the future without rewiring the panelboard.
For the easiest selection by customers, Appleton provides six standard P Series PowerPlex configurations totaling nearly 300 design possibilities. The panelboards are available in 40 Amps to 250 Amps with 3- for 4-pole mains MCCB for primary protection, a first of its kind for the electrical industry. Also, to meet almost al industrial load requirements, customers can install branch breakers in amperage ranging from 0.5A to 62A (1, 2, 3, 4 or 1P+N), without or without GFI or auxiliary contacts.
Circuit breaker maintenance costs and downtime add up in hazardous locations because of the severity of the environments. Appleton P Series PowerPlex panelboards minimize maintenance expense and inventory costs with a flameproof labyrinth joint that allows for the use of standard, off-the-shelf breakers rather than costly, specialized sealed breakers. In addition, its lightweight breaker cover can be quickly and safely opened in the field while still maintaining the flameproof integrity of individual breaker housings.
