Panel Mounting Stepper Drives eliminate dc supply.April 2, 2008 -
Operating stepper motors in servo mode, StepNet(TM)AC Drives run directly on 115/240 Vac at 7 A peak current and include built-in motion control modes, such as indexing, PVT trajectory tracking, camming, and electronic gearing. Command, Encoder, and Communications interfaces allow user to apply single model to stand-alone and networked architectures and applications. Measuring 146 x 119 x 55 mm, drives may be mounted flat or sideways, and utilize CME 2(TM) software for automated setup.

Stepper Drive Eliminates DC Supply, Runs On 115/240V AC
StepNet(TM)AC operates stepper motors in servo mode - quiet running, no missed steps

Canton, MA, March 31, 2008-Copley Controls' panel mounting StepNet(TM)AC drives run directly on 115/240 AC at 7A peak current eliminating a separate DC supply. Pivotal benefits include servo mode operation for smooth, quiet stepper motor operation (a boon for laboratory environments) and freedom from lost steps. A range of sophisticated motion control modes are built-in: indexing, PVT trajectory tracking, camming and electronic gearing. The drive can operate standalone or be part of a distributed control network.
StepNet(TM)AC drives incorporate Command, Encoder, and Communications interfaces that allow users to apply the single model to a wide range of stand-alone and networked architectures and applications. Actual interfaces include CAN/open, DeviceNet, ASC11/Discrete I/O, Stepper commands, ±10V position/velocity/torque command, and PWM velocity/torque command. StepNet(TM)C's 'one-drive-fits-all' versatility cuts inventory costs and simplifies user logistics. Measuring 146 x 119 x 55 mm, Stepnet(TM)AC drives may be mounted flat or sideways.
CME 2(TM) Software Automates System Setup
StepNet(TM)AC users automate otherwise time-consuming system setup and commissioning functions with Copley's CME 2(TM) software. The software, loaded into the user's computer, provides auto tuning of the current loop. Software settings are stored in the amplifier's non-volatile flash memory.
Software Libraries Speed System Implementation
Copley Controls has developed extensive libraries of motion control software (Copley Motion Libraries) and software COM objects (COM) to make system development fast and simple. The development of low level code to control a CANopen network of intelligent drives is eliminated. All network management is taken care of automatically by a few simple commands linked into the user's Visual Basic, LabView or C++ application program.
Applications
Panel mounting StepNet(TM)AC drives provide multiple control modes in both stand-alone and multi-axis network control, and permit combinations of steppers and servos in the same motion system. Application flexibility enables designers of packaging, assembly, laboratory, medical and manufacturing automation equipment to match steppers or servos-or both-to their applications.
