Vermont Company Offers Pad Printing Cliché Laser

The Rapid Fire Cliche Maker is Pad Print Machinery of Vermont's latest offering - a laser-powered plate making system that features ready-to-use digital clarity without chemicals or film.

"The Rapid Fire Cliche Maker is built in the USA and carries the Pad Print Machinery of Vermont brand of excellence in training, customer service and support," said Julian Joffe, president of Pad Print Machinery of VT, Inc.

The bench-top sized Rapid Fire Cliche Maker comes complete with its own PC, and uses a 10W CO2 laser to etch polymer pad printing plates to a depth of 18 to 60 microns, depending on the printing needs. The dot size of a tenth of a thousandth of an inch makes possible extremely fine lines and details including half tones and 4 color process cliches.

Another benefit of using the Rapid Fire Cliche Maker to etch cliches is the extreme precision and repeatability, Joffe said. "In addition to shortening the prepress process significantly, laser-etched cliches will speed up registration for multiple-color pad printing jobs."

The speed of the Rapid Fire Cliche Maker is ideal for shops that need many different plates; at 45-inches per second, the laser can output a plate for instant printing on a golf ball in 3 minutes or less.

The quickly etched polymer plates are available in two different styles: the standard plate with an estimated lifespan of 10,000 impressions (depending on use conditions) and the longer-life polymer that has an estimated lifespan of 20,000 impressions.
