February 27, 2009 - Building upon Eclipse nodal wireless platform, Eclipse Packet Node supports native mixed mode transmission for smooth migration of backhaul networks. It provides nodal and radio link native packet handling capacity to meet transport requirements expected for 4G. Product supports link throughputs with over 1 Gbit/s transported in single 56 MHz channel and over 140 Mbit/s in single 7 MHz channel. Coding functions optimize RF path performance, with up to 6 dB of additional system gain.

Harris Stratex Networks Introduces Eclipse Packet Node at Mobile World Congress 2009

Eclipse Packet Node enables backhaul network transformation in preparation for 4G

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 16 /-- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSTX), a leading specialist in backhaul solutions for mobility and broadband networks, today introduced Eclipse Packet Node to address the growing demands for high speed packet transport in next generation mobile backhaul networks. Eclipse Packet Node will be showcased as a part of the company's presence at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, Spain, in Hall 2, booth #2F27 at the Fira de Barcelona from February 16-19, 2009.

Backhaul requirements are set to grow dramatically due to ever higher download speeds, increased data usage, and the introduction of new mobile services and applications. Ethernet microwave transport promises to deliver the means to meet these challenges, helping Operators to respond to the growing pressures to lower network operational costs.

Eclipse Packet Node is the ultimate wireless backhaul solution building upon the market leading Eclipse platform to support Native Mixed Mode (TDM plus IP) transmission for smooth and cost-effective migration of backhaul networks. Eclipse Packet Node now adds dramatically increased nodal and radio link native packet handling capacity to meet the transport requirements expected for 4G, as well as a host of leading edge innovations that will help Operators overcome challenges in traffic management, backhaul bandwidth limitations and costs, and even timing and synchronization in an all-IP network environment.

Eclipse Packet Node increases the packet handling capability of the Eclipse nodal design by over 1,000%, thanks to a new 'Packet Plane' architecture. Eclipse Packet Node supports dramatically increased link throughputs with over 1Gbit/s transported in a single 56 MHz channel and over 140 Mbit/s in a single 7 MHz channel. Operators can make more use of their limited frequency resources than ever before. Innovative coding enhancements have also enabled improved RF path performance, with up to 6dB of additional system gain, resulting in longer paths, smaller antennas, and/or extended availability.

"Eclipse Packet Node represents the most comprehensive convergence solution available on the market today, that will enable our customers to transform their networks to all-IP," said Paul Kennard, Harris Stratex Networks Chief Technology Officer. "Packet Node provides seamless support for both TDM and all-IP traffic with the same carrier-class performance, protection and network resiliency features, along with the raw IP capacity capability to meet network requirements all the way to LTE and beyond."

Eclipse Packet Node builds upon the market leading Eclipse nodal wireless backhaul platform from Harris Stratex Networks. Since its introduction in 2004, Eclipse has shipped more than 175,000 units and is providing TDM, hybrid and all-IP wireless transport in networks all over the world. Eclipse Packet Node leverages this significant installed base and proven field reliability, as well as demonstrated Carrier Ethernet interoperability and MEF Certification.
