Sealed Air’s New Instapak® GFlex® QS Foam Formulation Provides Maximum Product Protection and Increases Packaging Line Productivity
DANBURY, Conn. (May 24, 2004) – Sealed Air Corporation expands its line of Instapak® foam formulations with the addition of its new Instapak® GFlex® QS foam. The new foam has faster “demold” capability than the original formulation of Instapak® GFlex® high performance foam. It forms into a cushion in 30 seconds and, like Instapak® GFlex® foam, is specifically designed to package a range of products in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The unique characteristics of the foam provide maximum protection with minimal packaging. The foam also increases productivity on the packaging line by forming into a removable cushion three times faster than the original GFlex® foam, enabling operators to create custom-fit cushions quicker.
The Instapak® GFlex® QS foam can be dispensed using the SpeedyPacker® foam-in-bag, Instapacker™ Tabletop foam-in-bag or 900 Series hand-held packaging systems. Once dispensed from the system, the foam continues the expansion process and conforms to the shape of a product placed in a carton or a product image in a mold to form custom-fit protective cushions. GFlex® QS high-performance foam is specifically engineered to accommodate a variety of products that require multiple impact protection during shipping. Additionally, the foam’s unique physical characteristics create high-performance cushions using minimal material, allowing for an overall reduction in package size.
The SpeedyPacker®, Instapacker™ Tabletop and 900 Series systems can produce Instapak® GFlex® QS foam on demand. The SpeedyPacker® system can be placed online and one system can serve multiple conveyor lines. The Instapacker™ Tabletop system has a smaller footprint and is excellent for packaging areas where space is at a premium. In addition, the 900 Series system can be utilized to produce large custom designed cushions or foam-in-place packs for a variety of products.
