FDK Introduces 25A and 30A Senpai POL Converters

30A model delivers up to 165 Watts

San Jose, CA and Tokyo, Japan - February 26, 2008 - FDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Section: Code 6955), a global electronic component and battery manufacturer, announced the addition of three new high performance dc/dc converters to its Senpai Series of non-isolated point-of-load (POL) converters. These converters operate from a 6.0 Volt - 14.0 Volt (V) DC input bus, and are offered in industry-standard footprints. Delivering up to 165 Watts of output power, the 30 Ampere (A) FPLR12TR7530 converter defines the leading edge for POL converters in this standard size and input voltage range. The FPLR12TR7525 and FPLR12SR7525 converters deliver up to 25 A with best-in-class thermal performance.

The FPLR12TR7525 and FPLR12TR7530 converters are available in a 2.00x0.535x0.315 inch (50.8x13.5x8.0mm) industry-standard SIP package and the FPLR12SR7525 converter comes in a 1.30x0.53x0.327 inch (33.0x13.4x8.3mm) SMD package with industry-standard footprint and pin-out. All models provide a tightly-regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 0.75V - 5.5V DC and feature remote ON/OFF, over-current and over-temperature protection, and output voltage adjust, and are compatible with standard trim equations.

These Senpai Series dc/dc converters are designed for Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) and Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) applications that require high efficiency, tight regulation, and high reliability in elevated temperature environments. At an output voltage of 5.0V, with 400LFM (2m/s) airflow, the FPLR12TR7525 converter delivers full-rated output current with no derating in ambient temperatures of up to 75 degrees Celsius, and the FPLR12TR7530 and the FPLR12SR7525 converters deliver full-rated output current at temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. This excellent thermal performance results from electrical, thermal, and packaging design that is optimized for high density circuit card conditions.

"These new Senpai Series products are a timely extension to FDK's POL lineup," said Dr. Apurba Roy, executive advisor, FDK Corporation. "FDK continues its mission of providing high quality, cost effective IBA power products at the leading edge of performance."

All Senpai Series products are RoHS compliant. They are manufactured using FDK's state-of-the-art in-house manufacturing processes and systems in Japan. In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the FPLR12TR7525 and FPLR12SR7525 converters are priced at $18.00, and the FPLR12TR7530 converter is priced at $ 20.00. Samples are available now.
